My name is Leilani and I live in Austin, TX with my husband of 22 years and 4 children ages 13-20. I’ve been documenting births in Austin since 2011. My love for birth and photography intersected when my sister-in-law asked me to document the birth of my niece. I knew then that there was no going back; I had found my calling. For me, birth photography/videography is so much more than taking beautiful photos or film. It’s about preserving one of the most sacred events in a family’s life. I get what a huge thing it is for me to be invited into that space and to be trusted with the task of retelling that story. So I approach my work and my clients graciously. In the past few years I’ve begun mentoring other photographers at Birthbound Photographer. My goal is to inspire and encourage other birth photographers to earnestly connect artistry and professionalism within their own work.
