We are so excited to officially announce that we have booked a gorgeous exhibition space in Melbourne, Australia for the 14th Annual International Association of Professional Birth Photographers Image Competition.

For the first time in IAPBP competition history, we will be showcasing the winning prints, and live streaming the winners announcement from the exhibition space!

This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the impact that birth photography has both professionally and personally for birth photographers, families, and the wider community, and honour the winners of the 14th Annual IAPBP Birth Photography Image Competition.

What this means for you:
📸 You can attend the announcement in person at our exhibition or online! Winners will be announced at our in person exhibition with the announcement LIVE streamed online across the world.
📸 All winning images will be professionally printed by Atkins Pro Lab and showcased at the exhibition on the day.
📸 Winners will receive their winning images mailed to them to keep!

Have you entered into the 14th Annual IAPBP Birth Photography Image of the Year Competition?⁣⁣

For our 2024 Image Competition we will have five separate categories:
📸 Labor – Early labor through Transition
📸 Delivery – Begins when baby begins to exit the body up until delivery of the placenta
📸 Postpartum – After placenta delivery and remaining in the birth space
📸 Birth Details – Details of the birth anytime during early labor through postpartum
📸 Loss and Triumph – Images depicted of loss and triumph for families

With sub-categories: Fine Art, Documentary, Black and White.

Don't save this until last minute - submissions will close Friday, February 12, 2024.This is going to be our biggest and best year yet!⁣⁣

As you look through your portfolio from 2023 to decide which images to submit to this year’s competition⁣ keep these tips in mind⁣:

📸 Look for images that make someone stop and stare, whether it’s an image filled with story, emotion, detail or it’s an innovative angle! You want your image to stand out and stick in the judge’s minds long after.⁣

📸 Make sure the technical aspects of your image, focus, highlights/shadows, and cropping are at an award winning standard. It is very common for photographers to do extra editing on their images as they enhance an image from perfect for the family to winning awards.⁣

📸 As you decide on your Title, be sure to keep the point of focus in mind. Titles can add story and depth to your image but can also distract you so be thoughtful when submitting. Also know it’s ok to simply use a one-word title like, Strength, Power or simply leave it “Untitled”⁣
